Maternity Leave

I can't believe that the time has come for me to put my baking on hold! With 1 1/2 months left until my due date, I have realized that I can no longer stand on my feet too long nor can I bake a cake that is up to my standards. So, until after my little guy is born, I am on "maternity leave".

Kelly still has 6 months to go until her baby comes, so she is still baking. Molly is also baking, too, so feel free to keep those orders coming!! Their time books up fast.... so make sure you secure your event's date early!!

I will continue to answer calls, take emails and update the blog. You can call 817.382.CAKE or for a quicker response, email loveatfirstbitebakery@yahoo.com for any inquiries that you have. Of course, we'll always answer facebook messages, too!

Thank you all for your continued support. These few months have been awesome!! I look forward to re-joining the baking world soon... but until then I am going to enjoy this special time with my family :)

Weddings, showers, birthday parties, and....potato guns?!

Kelly has been especially busy these last few weeks baking! She did all but one of the cakes in this post. The closer I get to delivery, the less and less I am able to stand on my feet to bake. I am very much looking forward to getting back on my feet and into the kitchen...especially because there have been some fantastic orders coming our way!

The "potato gun" cake. The birthday boy (mine and Kelly's dad) has been having a blast building and playing with his potato gun. When Kelly asked him what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday, he told her a potato gun cake.... so there you have it!

We've still been baking... I just haven't beem updating the blog like I should be :) Here are some pictures of some of things we've done since you last heard from me. Hope I included everything!!

I made this cake for a lingerie shower/ bachelorette party. This is my second time doing this cake... this time I did a smaller version and am much happier with the way the small one turned out.

Birthday party time!!

We've all been busy working on birthday cakes over the past week. Here's a little peek at all the fun we've been having!!

We're making some changes

First of all, I want to thank all of Love at First Bite's fans and supporters. This has been an awesome couple of months and ya'll have kept me busier than I ever could have imagined possible. I am having so much fun and loving every second of it! The downside to this is that my body isn't loving it. As you all know, I am expecting. I have been saying "yes... yes... YES!" to each and every order than has come my way (because I love baking that much!) without giving consideration to everything that is going on inside of me. My body has decided to protest in the form of migraines and contractions. I am only 20 weeks along, so needless to say, contractions are not something I welcome at this point!!

I am still going to keep trucking along as long as I can, but this means I most likely won't be able to take on every order that comes my way. So that means book early!! I am completely booked through the 13th of June. There are still spots open after that and I have plenty of weekdays still open for your work events.

But, don't hesitate to e-mail me if you have an upcoming order. You never know when an order will be cancelled or if Kelly and/ or Molly have an opening to take on an order!!

Now on to the fun changes:

We are working on some new flavors!!! I have been testing out some new fun cupcake flavors and will soon be adding these specialty cupcakes to the "menu". Here is a sneak preview at some of the greatness that will be heading your way soon!!

This weekend's baking included beach themed cupcakes for teacher appreciation at a local elementary school, some groovy cupcakes for a sweet little girl's birthday party and a lingerie shower cake!!

Kelly and Molly made this golf themed birthday cake over the weekend. Isn't it adorable?!!

A wedding, a birthday, and a baby shower... oh my!

Kelly made this adorable baby shower cake and matching cupcakes. I think baby shower cakes are some of the funnest cakes to design!!

My weekend's baking included a wedding cake and a birthday cake! The wedding cake was a traditional country and western theme. The birthday cake was candy themed for a 13th birthday party. These cakes kept me busy but were so much fun to make!!

While I was busily working on a couple of orders over the weekend, Molly and Kelly made this Sponge Bob cake. The best part is it was for a 30th birthday. How awesome is that?

Cowboy/ Cowgirl themed cupcakes

I had another busy weekend! I worked on 3 orders, two of which I didn't even remember to take pictures of (pregnant brain is REAL folks, let me tell ya!) But, I did remember to take pictures of the cutest ones :) These were for a set of twins' first birthday party. The theme was cowboy/ cowgirl.

I got to have more fun working with molded chocolate. I made cowboy hats, cowboy boots and stars. Then I had a little more fun with fondant making horses and cow print.

Here is a quick post about the baking we did for this weekend. It was all about the cupcakes!!

I did 70 mini cupcakes for a baby shower. There is just something so fun about mini cupcakes!!

These cupcakes were so much fun to make. They were for a rock-n-roll themed 1st birthday party. The toppers are molded chocolate.... this was my first time working with chocolate melts, and it was a great experience!

This is the matching snare drum smash cake for the birthday party.

Molly made this adorable pull-apart cake for Kelly's birthday. It is actually a cake made up of cupcakes! How fun is that?!

Cupcakes for a cause

An old friend of mine was attending a charity auction and asked me for a gift certificate to auction off for the bakery. I gladly donated a gift certificate as well as some tasty samples to pursuade people to bid for the gift certificate. What a win-win situation... everyone gets yummy cupcakes and I get advertising! Here are some of the cupcakes that went to the auction:

Vanilla with vanilla buttercream. Some iced with M&M icing, some topped with M&Ms, some topped with mini chocolate chips... and some topped with all three!

Chocolate fudge cupcakes with chocolate fudge icing... trust me when I say these cupcakes are AMAZING!!!
